Abit IC7-G SATA problems

by Marios <Marios73@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Nov 23, 2006 at 06:15 PM

Hello to everyone,
    My specs P4 3.0Ghz, Abit IC7-G, 1,5G DDR, 3 HD (1 IDE, 2 SATA),
Geforce 6800, XP Pro, Heroichi 500W silent pro. My problem has started
when I decided to plug in another SATA II HD. Sata slots 1,2 were
occupied so I choose slot 3. I managed to boot into windows and
everything was working perfectly until I decided to initialize the new
drive and format it (from computer management, disk management). The
system freezed on me, then after a while it became very slow and every
time I tried to do something, it took for ever to do. So every time I
try to touch the new drive everything is fine, as long as I do not try
to mess with it.As soon as I try to format it or see it's properties
problems start. Is there a specific change I should do in BIOS settings
in order to make it work? The drive is a SATA II but I changed the
jumper and transformed it to SATA I. Please let me know that there is a
solution

Best Regards

Marios
