Just a few more things I thought of. First, if you just want to run
doors check out Manning's GameSrv:

Second, if you are serious about running a BBS you should check out
all the available software and spend some time with the one that most
appeals to you. Building a BBS is still hard work, especially if you
want to attract a good user base.
You can always check out TBBS, as Skywalker suggests ... but it isn't
for the faint of heart. :)
