change conf

by bj <bjjl@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 16, 2008 at 08:44 PM

I was trying to change my vm.swappiness=5 in the /etc/sysctl.conf but
when I go to terminal and type in it says "permission denied". I tried
it in root and get the same thing "permission denied". Is there some
command used to get to conf files I never heard of? Or is the
/etc/sysctl.conf wrong. I am using the Ubuntu 8.04.
Thanks for any help.
