ignitionServer, an open source IRCX server for Windows, version 0.3.2
has been released! This version fixes at least 20 known bugs, and adds a
bunch of features that were not present in 0.3.1. The best of the new
features include Auto VHost (which automatically gives your IRC
Operators a VHost if they have one), IRCX WHISPER (which lets you talk
to other users privately within a channel), and IRCX knock/+u (which
lets you know when people try to join and can't). In addition to those
new features and the bugfixes, several security bugs were fixed,
including a rather nasty one that let users remotely raise the number of
links. And, of course, the link password isn't verified bug that called
for 0.3.1-P1.
We have also revamped several of the bundled utilities, and we've
actually included a new utility. There is a new ignitionServer Monitor,
which runs on all versions of Windows (not just NT/2000/XP/2003), with
an improved UI. We've also improved the UI of ignitionServer PassCrypt
-- now it's much better to look at! And, last but not least, we've added
a new utility: the IRCXpro Migration Wizard. This wizard helps you
migrate from IRCXpro to ignitionServer with only one click. It converts
all of your IRC operators, bad names, client rules, and more. It even is
capable of converting passwords associated with each section! This
utility is useless to people who don't use IRCXpro, but for people that
do, this will allow them to switch to ignitionServer if they want. And,
they won't lose all their stuff :).
You can download ignitionServer 0.3.2 at the usual places: SourceForge's
File Release System
(http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=96071),
the
ignitionServer download page
(http://www.ignition-project.com/ignition/server/download/),
and via
MAGNET-URIs.
On a personal note, I hope this doesn't sound like spam >_<. If it does,
it wasn't supposed to be. I'm just announcing the newest release of my
server, which is appropriate on alt.irc.servers, aye? Anyways,
ignitionServer keeps getting better. Like a fine wine. Hehe. And, yes, I
know, nobody in their right mind would even think about running an IRC
server on Windows, but there are plenty of people downloading stuff from
WIRCDs.net, and there's a lot of people who waste their money on
IRCXpro. No need to mention that fact (that you have to be crazy to run
an IRC server on Windows), we know :).
