Programs will not come up

I installed OS X.5 Leopard and my screen will not open beyond this
message.

Application Google desktop agent quit unexpectedly.  Mac OS X and
other applications not affected.Check relaunch, re****t or ignore

It opens with a desktop picture.  I cannot get ti any programs.
